The removal of a tooth root tip: diseased tissue from around the tip of the root. The procedure is generally performed when the tooth has undergone a root canal and the treated tooth becomes infected causing pain, swelling and discharge.
A root-end filling is placed to prevent re-infection of the root and the gum is sutured. The bone heals naturally around the root restoring full function.
